I am a 40 year-old physician with a renewed interest in literature and art. I have become passionate about reading great literature and have a particular interest in the modernists, such as James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Proust, and Wallace Stevens. As an ostensibly analytical person, perhaps I have repressed those all-important emotional aspects of myself that I long to express in my poetry. Now, I am inspired by the company of humble friends and quiet reflection while running and exercising. It is at these moments that the germ of a topic comes to me, when all aspects of the self are in sync. This is when I most need to express myself: to commune and communicate with another, and know someone is listening.
