This story was first written for my daughter when she was 11 years old. The background setting for the story is a fairly accurate discription of the rural area and farm house we lived in at the time the story was first written: complete with the deserted ramshackle house next door, the creaky old windmill, the large cornfield to the east of us, and the large wooded area beyond. We even had the two schnauzers: Cocoa and Smokey. This story will probably be of greatest interest to children and teenagers between the ages of 7 and 15. I am posting it here with some embelishments and improvements, with plans to submit this story to several publishers later. If you have children, grandchildren, or nieces and nephews you think would enjoy the story, feel free to print it out
and share it with them. However, do not make multiple copies for distribution. I would appreciate any honost feed-back, corrections, suggestions, etc., from all readers, both negative and positive.
