Reality Nightmare
by Jessie Baldwin (Age: 20)
copyright 06-01-2003

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Which is which!
I can't tell the differences,
Reality And Dreaming.

Am I still asleep?
I wander aimlessly through nightmares
in the garden that holds my bad dreams,
seeing the flying seldom sweet dreams
across the dreamy midnight sky above, out of reach.

Or am I awake?
This seems so real to me.
Is my nightmare or reality?
Even the leaves on the ground move from the wind.
How come everything is the same??

It looks like a storm is coming.
The gardener's out plowing his black flowers.
How come the nightmare hasn't ended??
Someone wake me up!
The wind is getting forceful.
Shake me slap me!! Anything to make me
open my eyes!!

Tell which parts
is the dream and which parts are the real!
Wake me up! Wake me up!!

Unless...Unless I am awake, and this is the real...

This, my friend is POETRY! You may not realize it, but you have written a masterpiece! Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud spent years analyzing and interpreting dreams, because dreams are that important in our lives. We spend one third of our lives dreaming. This is a very long time. Thus, there must be something to this question you so cleverly ask, "What is real?" Jessie, we just don't know if the third of the time we spend dreaming is our reality or the two thirds we spend awake is our fantasy! By the way, the imagery here is beyond compare, the flow is just riveting and the theme is...well, up in the air! Great job.

very original and good. Needs a slight touchup of a mis-spelled word or two.

Whoa, freaky, It's really wierd not knowing if something is a dream or just reality. Most people just hit their heads on the wall and say "This is not happening, this is not happening"! (I happen to be one of those people n_n). Terrific poem! ^-^
