Or Any Other Day
by John Mcleod
copyright 08-12-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

First there was the bomb
it came down from above
it knocked down all our houses
and it killed the ones we love
look at the empty playground
where the kids, they used to play
I guess that does not matter now
for they will not be playing again today
or any other day,

Hopes and dreams are a thing of the past
why did the good times not last?
death and destruction is everywhere
we never stood a chance
a small child walks the streets alone
looking for his mom
he is too young to realize the pain
he will never see her again today
or any other day,

Crying in the night tells of a young mans plight
he has searched for his love all day
missing her and wishing her
a safe journey to the pearly gate
he can't carry on with what has gone on
he has no future without his wife
later that night he takes his own life
yet he will not be found the next day
or any other day,

The survivors they must carry on
they must try to put things right
a collection of different nationalities
they want to work together not fight
if only they joined forces years ago
instead of trying to be the brightest light
then all the world would be at peace today
there would be no death, sadness and sorrow today
or any other day.
