Reverberations pounded by the day
begin to wane. The slow, elastic throb
of shadow-fingers play their muted drum,
as twilight bends to stroke its feathered hush.
Nocturnal creatures sally forth, survey
the weakness of their prey. Their tongues will rob
the silence -- brazen notes, that mark the hum
of appetites aligned in mindless rush.
But ebbing tides and time hold final sway
above the surge of every writhing mob.
The hunters and the hunted all succumb
to gravity's revolving, ruthless crush.
And some absorb the light within the force,
while others chase the nightwind to its source.

Once again, a sublime sonnet. This time, with a twist. The rhyme scheme is repeated in each quatrain, but not within the quatrain. So unique-- and so wonderful. Your meter is impeccable, as well.
I can only shake my head in awe of your versatility. And the theme was so well-furthered, as well. I especially liked "Their tongues will rob the silence-- brazen notes, that mark the hum of appetites aligned in mindless rush." That applies to humans as well, I think. :)
