Wishes
by John Mcleod
copyright 08-12-2001

Age Rating: 18 to 127

I wish of many things
like everyone else who dreams
wishes of love, good fortune and wealth
a wish that would preserve my health,

I wish that all the trouble in the world
would cease to be an issue
I want the starving to be fed
their thirst for life to be quenched,

I wish that nuclear bombs were gone
their radiation safely hidden away
armies, for them to disappear
their weapons made useless from today,

I wish for pollution to be cleaned up
so animals can live in peace
without the fear of clogging up
with oil tainted with disease,

I wish for the homeless to be housed
the elderly to not feel alone
a city that is free from crime
one that I can proudly call my home,

I wish that politicians would take note
of the voice that comes from the people
the ones that should matter most
not statistics on a piece of paper,

Most of all I wish for you
to be happy, be nice not cruel
for life is shorter than you think
do not waste it, live life to the full.

Wise wishes, John - and how I wish they could come true. The strange thing is, they could -- if enough people cared.

You just want to put the papers out of business... don't ya? LOL.
