Candy's Poem

Like many evenings in the past
I wrote special copy for the evening news
A personal note to cure cabin fever
End the winter blues
I was looking at the paper seeking words to write
When a flash of instinct crossed my mind
A lady with four children just getting by
Had sent out a saving voice to a stranger
Who passed by (sweet poetry)
Dead line drew nearer and I know what I’d say
It was cold in Carolina except for the love found today
Children busy talking the way that they do
Planning childhood dreams in the dining room
The sound of laughter fills up every room
Love and hope stretches dollars thin
Still in good shape for the shape they’re in
Quietly planning new words to write
Romantic dinner, love poems by candlelight
Words of hope written long into the night
Fingers flying over computer keys
This is the way a romantic’s life should be
