The Day

The darkness was almost frightening, but nothing could change the excitement that tingled inside her as her second escorted her to her groom. She smiled as she gently touched the beautiful silk blindfold, picked by her beloved not a week before; a wild and daring leopard print, exactly matching what he would soon discover beneath yards of white satin and lace.

Her thoughts were only of him, the handsome prince that would soon be hers. She adored him completely, from his dopey ears (where he no doubt wore his huge silver hoop-earrings) to his devilish goatee; from his huge smile and nice abs to his artificial tattoos and… unique fashion sense. Again she smiled, picturing him standing before her, his hand outstretched to take hers, pulling her close…

The fantasy shattered as she came to a halt, doubtless before the pastor, and positively beside her love. She deeply inhaled his cologne, her favorite sent. Her heart began to pound as her second assisted her in reaching out her hand, which was soon enveloped by the warmth of her groom's. She took another breath, the excitement building in her, as the pastor began to speak.

His words blurred together as she clutched her beloved's hand, feeling the warmth, security, and confidence it held. By no means was she regretting this decision, nor was she apprehensive, but she felt a weakness in her knees, a dizziness that often accompanied a combination of nervousness and a lack of breakfast. He squeezed her hand back, and she could feel his reassuring smile beaming onto her.

The next words she heard were his deep, beautiful voice, forming the wonderful words: "I do."

The pastor addressed her, and she was more than ready to supply her affirmative reply.

She felt her beloved shift, and she squeezed his hand again. He returned, with a small band that he slid onto her tiny finger. Her smile grew, as her second handed her a large band, which she slowly slid onto his finger.

The pastor's words were gone now, no longer a distant mumble in her far-off mind. She felt a gentle tug at the back of her blindfold, followed by a loosening. Then, brightness shined into her eyes.

It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the brightness of the room. However, nearly immediately, she saw the smiles on the faces of the guests, especially on the Queen's. As her eyes adjusted, she began to see the beautiful transition the palace had taken. No longer was it the red monstrosity it had formerly been; her beloved had transformed it into a beautifully decorated chamber of violet and blue, the exact shades found in his amazing eyes. She gasped at the beauty, at the time he must have spent on this project. She smiled as she took in her beautiful surroundings.

It was then, rather suddenly, she felt the warmth and comfort of a body against hers, the tight grip of arms holding her from behind. "Hey, did you forget about me?"

She smiled as she wrapped her arms around his, enjoying the comfort of his grip. She leaned her head back onto his chest, enjoying the aroma of his cologne, the strength of his grip, and the love she felt toward him.

He took her hand, and held it up to her eyes. A platinum band encircled her third finger, with a row of amethyst and sapphire gemstones alternating around the middle. "It's just what you wanted," he whispered as he shifted her around to face him. He pulled her close and smiled. "I love you, baby," he whispered as he drew her up for a long, passionate kiss.

I didn't understand the blindfold either, but the ceremony felt very familiar...

Hello Amber, this is a very good peace, I look forward to reading the end results.

Thank you for reading this story. I just want to note that this is somewhat part of a bigger novella my friends and I are writing, hense the discription of the palace where the wedding is taking place. However, this is the only section that is my handiwork, simply because my friends are slightly better at wording than I am. If you want, I could post a brief summary of the whole story, if it would help to understand this.
