I Love You, I Hate You
by Melissa Bean (Age: 22)
copyright 07-16-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

How many times have I told you
that I can't stand everything you represent,
but I still love you,
and worship the ground you walk upon.

You are my temple,
of which I can hide from human emotion.
You are my doctor,
because I am allergic to devotion.

You are my drill sergeant
because all you did was yell.
You are my Neptune,
you heard more than the sea in shells.

I think I put you on a cloud,
because I had no pride in myself.
You had a very obnoxious crowd,
but I love you now and forever.

You are my programmer,
because you tried to install a new heart.
You are my old timer,
You've been there from the start.

You are my dark closet.
from time to time, I got locked away.
You are my sun dial.
For me you never had the time in the day.

Sometimes I wonder if you will decend,
away from me
and away from my friends.
I never loved you anway.

You are my brick wall.
because you helped me lock everyone out.
You are my sunshine,
when my head was filled with drought.

Why do I continue?
Can someone answer me?
You're just you.
Bold, weird but beautiful.

You are my tissue,
when my red eyes needed drying.
You are that tree I can't climb.
because your ego is too high.

You are my shoe strings.
because you didn't keep yourself tied.
You are my angel.
You save me, or at least you tried.

I never loved you anway.... anway should be anyway?

As for the content, I know EXACTLY where you're coming from! I used to be very codependent, and like an alcoholic the first step is in accepting there's a problem. Now my happiness no longer rides on the shirt tails of another and I'm self confidence no longer depends on another's approval of me. *Hugs* Hope you get through it soon. The sooner the better. :-)

I have had a situation like this. I loved my teacher Ms. Estella. I'm not gay or anything but she was such a nice person. I am going through depression right now and at that time when I was in 8th grade I would talk to Ms. Estella. Then she started to ignore me. I think she didn't want to hear anymore from me. I was so heart broken because of that. She was such a sweet person. She kept me down but she kept me up just like in your poem.

Knowing where this is coming from helps... I'm praying :) You're doing well with it though.

Some great lines here, kept the reader going till then end and left one wanting more. Still a couple of spelling mistakes 'Reddened' and 'descend'. Great read L
