I remember my grandma on days of my youth.
I remember her bacon sandwichs on steamy afternoons.
I remember the sign on the back of her car that read, "Caution, precious cargo in tow."
I remember birthday parties and holiday get togethers.
I remember our Dolllove saying, "You who!" to the waiters at Denny's.
I remember her stooping down to pick up pennys on the sidewalk.
I remember sandy beaches and skies of blue, and a little old woman looking for a shell or two.
I also remember that dreary day, after school, and my father coming in and telling me the sad news.
That our Dolllove passed, in her sleep, in to the land of our God.
I remember her name carved on that stone and seeing that rainbow in the sky.
As if, she were telling me that it was alright, and helping me through that day without once shedding a tear, and telling me that she was right here.
(Dedicated in loving memory of Johanna (Dolllove) Decker)
