Long had his heart dreamed of her warm, gentle touch,
his strong virtue tested and tried.
"Wait," she had whispered, and he loved her so much,
by her plea he would surely abide.
Her treasure she held with sweet perserverence.
Her love remained constant and true.
He clung to her promise with almost a reverence,
"In marriage, I'll give all to you."
Though temptation drew strong and hot passions grew brighter,
he respected her more than himself
and proved his love faithful, a victorious fighter,
held purity above all things else.
They knew all the arguements; the sly little words,
"If you love me, you'll do as I ask."
But true love proves itself refined through fire's swords
and needs no deceit nor a mask.
Purity - a word time has come to disgrace
to eccentric beliefs and old thought,
but remains a rare gift, direct from Heaven's place
which no measure of wealth has e'er bought.
A gift wrapped in promises, bound by a choice
and given more precious than gold.
Opened by cautious hands which seek awe and rejoice
and carefully plan to unfold.
If he treasures her and she returns his devotion,
love will stand tests of time, space, or fire;
and not cleave to the lies heard or felt in emotion,
but patiently fulfill its desire.
