Old Friends lament
by Walter Jones (Age: 62)
copyright 07-16-2003

Age Rating: 18 to 127

Dreamy eyes try to hold me
in the shadow of the night
burning fingers adore me
God it sure feels right

Skipping down the valley known
a friend or two on the way
still the dream of time it finds
me in her yesterday

Taste the nectar of her flower
let the flavor linger there
in a time that holds honor
like the flowers in her hair

Love burns like the fire
raging in my soul
slips passed the longing
like the stories she told

slipping into darkness
hidden by the cold
are the wrinkles of
her body growing old

like the touch of velvet
kisses layed upon my skin
takes me to places where
life will began again

Life is full of surprises
even to tired old eyes
strong is the heart
that forgives old lies

Minutes move to hours
days into night
love into showers
of stars not in the sky

Some will rock the cradle
some will follow stars
I will live the fable
not caring who you are

I really enjoyed reading this poem Walt. I think it is one of my favorites.

Love is blind and doesn't want to see the wrinkles, isn't that the truth. Nice job Walt.

May I hide into showers of stars in your poem and listen tender song of the Love? Your Love song makes somebody happy...
Every line of your poem is a piece of your pulsatile love.
I am charmed by your words...
Irina.
