The Beauty in Halloween


The goblins and the gooks
The spirits and the spooks
And some other people I know
Were loosed and let go


Orange and black flowers
And broken castle towers,
Bits of colored paper and more
Were scattered over the floor


Pieces of crayon, black and orange and red
Along with scribbled pictures lying on the bed
A record player still repeating the words it said
The wicked witch is dead; the wicked witch is dead


Tomato paste and other special effects
Sprinkled all over in multicolored specs
I'll admit this all looks affright
But I know happy little faces were smiling last night
