Playing with Philosophy: On Love and Perfection (And some cute quotes)
by Debra Rose (Age: 21)
copyright 07-30-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

On Perfection and love:
(As told to Alyse)

Life? Life is not perfect if you’re happy! Life, life is agony. Pain. Those moments that make you cringe in turmoil and pray that you could die...those moments that send you tumbling into irrepressible sadness, and nothing is real. Nothing but the agony.

And then, then there is the joy. The happiness that overwhelms you in ecstasy like that peaking moment in an orgasm where the world shatters into millions of pieces like fireworks and sparks, a bomb exploding in the most ecstatic way that sends you shivering to the ground with tears in your eyes as you look to the sky and scream, "Please, send me no more! For this is too much as it is...I want to feel more and more, but I feel as if I may die if I do!"

And what would that be without love? Love or lust, passion or pain... Whatever it is you prefer to call that emotion that leaves you ravaged, with nothing but a singular emotion to hold on to, like the sun keeps the planets in line. And what would love be if it weren't perfect? The agony, the joy, and that moment between of lucidity and peace that makes it all seem bearable again. And let us not forget the desire...

The agony, that would be the humiliator. And not just the master or the torturer...no...but the antagonist. The one who dances the intricate dance of pain and pleasure in a waltz of wits and fancies....Pip and Havisham, Jeckyll and Hyde, Cain and Abel, Noah and the pharoh...God and Lucifer...all great stories involve the agony!

And the joy...that would be the submissive. The one you would dominate and rule, who you would hold and protect and who makes you feel as if you are the only thing in the world keeping them alive. And mark my words...NEVER can that roll change, else that role is destroyed and a most awkward position is created until it is settled again.

And the peace, the comfort, that would be your dominator. The one that wraps you in their arms and whispers in your ear that you are cherished and protected; the one who soothes your hair and makes the world disappear and the demons you face seem not so big because no longer are they yours to conquer. But should they ever ask to be dominated by you, it would destroy the protector roll...once more you would be the protector, and you would be forced to find a new one...

And last, but still just as important--the desire. The rule accompanying this is important, if not the most important, of rules for perfection; desire must never be fulfilled or addressed to anyone but yourself. The person who you observe quietly, the obsession that graces your mind in the quietest of moments you spend away from your lovers. The one you follow in your silence and picture what you could do to them or them to you, and if you dare spoke their name to a friend, you would fall to your knees in humiliation and never be able to look them in the eyes again. For it is that one person who brings out the most carnal desires in you that leaves you shivering even at their name.

The agony, the ecstasy, the heart soothing calmness, and the desire...all add up to humor, this creation and ruler of life. And THAT, my friend, is the true secret to perfection.

Now, for some quotes I want to share...I don't know where these came from. They were sent to me, but I will get the site and put it up here soon.

THESE ARE NOT MINE!!!!!

They're just being put here for the cuteness effort. LA!!!!! So don't give me credit. I'll tell you who did it in a few days. I'm also putting these here ecause I agree with the philosophy behind them.

"Death is hereditary"

"Guns don't kill people, death kills people! It's a proven medical fact!"

"Health is merely the slowest possible rate at which a person can die."

"Death is caused by swallowing small amounts of saliva over a large period of time."

"It's not how you die that matters. It's who you take with you. "

"If a person with multiple personalities threatens suicide, is that a hostage situation?"

"He's not dead; he's electroencephalographically challenged"

"It's too early in the morning for suicide."

There are some quotes. They don't belong to me. Some are cute, and ALL I agree with. HOpe you enjoyed the quotes and the philosophy. The philosophy is mine, the quotes are not. So don't sue me. Please? I don't know who wrote them? And all you'd get is the same thing everyone gets...an IOU...I have no money.

Actually...I don't.

A very erudite and mature treatise on love for one so young. I read it and could not believe these were the words of a 16 year old. But then thinking back, I had some rather mature thoughts at that age as well. But you are truly wise beyond your years, Debra. You have enormous potential as an author, with such an obvious gift for writing. Write on!
Warm Regards,
Lyle
