My God, My God
by Amanda Benham (Age: 22)
copyright 08-08-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

My God, My God,
Thou hast forsaken me,
You ignored my mortal tears,
I cannot pray to thee,

My God, My God,
I've never heard you speak,
You left me dying,
While I was weak,

My God, My God,
Tear my flesh away,
It's always so much better,
Then living with dismay,

My God, My God,
You aren't here anymore,
I bleed sorrow every night,
As I lie stranded on the floor,

Oh God, Please God,
I'm deaf to your every word,
I'm so used to being alone,
No happiness has occured,

Oh God, Their God,
I don't need you anymore,
I'll take my wings without you,
Yes, I'll make me soar,

Your God, No God,
I won't believe you at all,
Don't tell me that without you,
I'll always beg and fall,

This God, Why God?
Did you have to leave me torn?
You've not been there a single day,
Not since I was born,

That God, Distant God,
Nothing's changed since then,
I'll swear I'll never take you back,
Nothing will change again,

My World, This Day,
I live here and now,
I'll never chase the fantasy,
Of a Father's loving vow.

How sad, this realm of seperation with no hope in sight. Lost in a world where there is no purpose, living to die some people might say. A depth of sadness I have before found myself drowning in. I can only hope you will find happiness and realize where it comes from.

Excellent write, most definitely.

Long ago did I feel the abandonment of God...the god that everyone told me I had to worship. Don't listen to anybody who tells you that you will find "Solace" and "love" in his embrace if you convert, but will always be sad if you don't. It is possible to find happiness. I've turned towards others. Cerridwenn, Aeros, Kami, and my latest subject of study, not of worship, is the God, Crow. And in all of these studies, I've found happiness. For many, god is needed. But for others...he isn't.

According to Marilyn Manson: "I never really hated the one true god, but the god of the people I hated." That was the quote that set me free. Great write, Amanda. While sad, I see it as a form of liberation. Though don't lose faith completely. While you may one day restore it in whatever form of divinity you chose, for now...place that faith in yourself. And never put the faith in anything stronger than you have faith in yourself. Great write.

good write, but im kinda dissapointed in this, not the context,no, the wording was good.....it just makes me sad that someone would turn away God, when he has given so much for you....you could at least believe that what he's promised is true....cuz thats the truth, honestly

We all have questions about God and how He works in our lives..all I know for sure is that God works for us and not against us. Fantastic poem, Amanda.

dude - God will ALWAYS be with you, whether you need Him or not, whether you want Him or not, whether you know it or not. AND btw - forsaken (second line) does not have the first "e" you added.
