Lovely day ~ good therapy ~
Setting off with Joan to see the sea
When we got there
Rendezvous was bare
Just photos of sailors in the Reading Room
(all dead and quiet!) ~ so we left quite soon
The tide, it was a-comin' in
Waves breaking with a rythmic din
We'd time a-plenty to stand and stare
Joan and Dawn, glad to be there
"Closed til Easter" proclaimed the Lighthouse
But our spirits this did not douse
St Edmund's Church was down the lane
Said to be fine, with claims to fame
Through stained-glass windows the sun shone bright
Made painted ceiling a wondrous sight
Cox'n Billy's name, from photos, we already knew
Long dead, his brass nameplate still on pew
A black end-wall with painted sunflowers tall and thin
"Well, come in" said the Sole Bay Inn
It lured us in there, to have a quaffy
Mine was Murphy's, Joan's a coffee
We ate a sarnie
With friendly barney
Scarce did a thing
But the day had 'zing'
