The Rarity Among Me
by Amanda Benham (Age: 22)
copyright 11-26-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

I look so deep inside myself,
Confusion's all I see,
I can feel it all around me,
This field of ecstacy,

So soft and warm the words,
I hear them all the time,
I start to think and wonder,
Why being perfect's not a crime,

It creaps upon you in your dreams,
It breathes kindness down your neck,
Why can't it see inside me,
My body's such a wreck,

The temptation of its' wisdom,
The happiness so strong,
I sit and wonder how,
You didn't notice all along,

I hear myself screaming,
No one's surprised at all,
They don't see the memories,
The ones that have me crawl,

I listen to their spoken words,
The purity runs so high,
They all seem so perfect,
Not one utters a lie,

This emptyness consumes me,
I feel no strength inside,
My word is bound to my fate,
My hands have long been tied,

They view no pain or destruction,
Felicity's all they see,
They are oblivious to this anguish,
This rarity among me.

Why is it that we find ourselves living our lives by what we think others think. Funny thing is that they are looking at you wondering what you think of them while you think they are sizing you up! The ones that don't do this will get along faster, but most are in the first group! Anthony
