The Poet's Quill
by Moses Hochstetler (Age: 59)
copyright 08-09-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

  The Poet's Quill

The poet's quill
Rich observations trace
Upon the bonded leaf

Soft sonnets weave
Through life to leap with joy
Or weep in common grief

To touch the heart
And pluck the stringless harps
Of feelings long denied

Fine ballads dance
Upon the writer's page
To song of virgin bride

To battles won
To heroes never known
To dreams and dreams that die

But all is lost
To all posterity
Before the critic's eye

Wonderful expression of what it means to be a poet. You must have the depth of feeling, of cool and keen wit, of satire and drama. Inspiring.
Nice work Moses.

True words! But we will not listen and hear all critics! No word is lost to all posterity!
Excellently!
Irina.
