The First-timers
by Dawn Staple (Age: 76)
copyright 08-25-2003

Age Rating: 10 to 127

"Whatever's happening over there ~
See, that woman with the white hair?"
The store's wheelchair has a pair of manic drivers, that's the truth
As Dawn tries it out, assisted by friend Ruth
The situation seems totally out of control ~
Should shoppers call for Security Patrol?

The Velcro strapping was much too worn
Kept unhitching the trolley in front of Dawn
As drivers, this pair should be wearing an 'L'
Fact is, they're not steering very well
Their wheels hook round most everything they pass
Trolleys, feet, veg ~ it's quite a farce

They apologise to lots of folk
Who treat their nuisance as a joke
Soon, it's like a lively chat show
With good cheer between people that they don't know
Seven times the front trolley came unhitched
Despite store's assurance that it was correctly fixed

They tested free samples of a new yoghurt drink
Strongly vanilla'd and extremely pink
"No, thanks ~ don't want to buy ~
Just passing, so gave it a try!"
The demonstrator didn't seem to mind
A fun 'day out' with everyone most kind
