Immortality
by Dian Bagent (Age: 21)
copyright 09-02-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

E’er I walk upon this withered land
Of dying trees and falling leaves,
Of oceans ever washing white sand,
Of fading clouds and memories.

Ne’er shall I see again
The friends lost to mortality,
The lives I saw last to end,
Lives of ones lost to fatality.

E’er on this forsaken shore
I will always be watching the tide.
As time goes on evermore,
The curse of immortality I try to hide.

Ne’er will my appearance change.
An ancient soul in an ever young body.
Long hair forever brown, un-aged.
Brown-green eyes forever shining.

E’er in this cold-hearted world
I’ll be trapped within the past,
Watching everything fade,
Wishing it all could last.

Ne’er shall I look again
Upon those I once held dear.
For unlike mortals who finally end,
I shall not die, trapped forever hear.

E’er will my heart break
As everyone around me dies.
I’m still alive in Armageddon's wake,
While on my knees, tears cloud my eyes.

What could be more sad than to watch as friends and loved ones die, while you are relegated to living forever..fantastic poem, Dian.
