Dedicated to my son Edward
**************************
Stand, young man, as a lighthouse stands
At the crest of a raging sea,
With a beacon light
On a moonless night
While the winds shriek mightily.
Moor yourself to a towering rock
Of truth and equity;
Be a reference guide
On the other side
Of the shoals of anarchy.
Hold your own when the going thing
On the tide of a mortal throng,
Is to play with shame
In a reckless game
Of ignoring right and wrong.
Stand, young man, as a lighthouse stands
On the edge of a railing sea;
With your head held high,
With a fog horn cry,
Leading on to victory.
