What My Parents Think
by Emily Garwood (Age: 21)
copyright 12-14-2004

Age Rating: 16 to 127

After one day, it's all okay,
What you're feeling doesn't matter,
It's back to the old ways,
Taunting and twisting,
Making me cry.

I'm not your perfect child,
Average maybe, and even nasty,
But you made me that way,
Thinking that after one day,
I would be okay.

I know your suffering,
You're unemployed,
But your children suffer just a bit more,
We lost our school, our friends and even more,
Now we have to start all over again.

New school, new people,
New friends to make,
New bullies to face,
It's almost a repition,
Of when I first came.

Maybe it's sad,
Or maybe to you it's funny,
But i can't face another repition,
I don't want to cut myself,
And feel the shame.

Don't worry it doesn't all come from school,
I suffer at home too.
I can be cutting right next to you,
You wouldn't even blink,
Let alone take notice.

You try every way to make me cry,
If i don't do a job,
Think of something nasty,
That will make you better.
I'm as helpful as I want to be, and i don't slack.

Maybe i take it to heart,
Maybe i'm not being serious enough,
But you put me down and turn me around,
I'm confused and feeling stuck,
You never even took that chance.

Remember there was a chance,
For you to see who i really was,
What was wrong and where i needed help,
You never showed, and i collapsed once again,
Wondering why you never cared.

I don't have parents,
They're mainly teachers,
Sometimes it seems like hell;
But for some crazy reason, i seem to love you.
Now i'm even more in depth, thinking why.

But remember this,
After one day you're always okay,
You have no emotion after a day of depression,
Tomorrow we'll tell the kids we're moving house.
Making it even more we have to loose.

Do you understand what runs through our minds?
How we think and how we feel?
Or that we cry alone at night?
It took a while to fit in and we finally made it,
Only to be removed and told to start again.

That's not your fault,
But you made it hard,
Pulling me down and turning me around,
You don't even know me anymore,
Now i'm crying everyday.

But don't worry after one day; it's all okay
What you're feeling doesn't matter,
It's back to the old ways,
Taunting and twisting,
Making me cry.
