New Angel In Flight
by Janet Owenby
copyright 09-15-2003

Age Rating: 10 to 127

I sit upon her bed tonight,
and hold her trembling body tight.
Her newborn struggles down the hall,
and tears become a waterfall.

Perfect assurance I can't find,
to comfort her tormented mind.
Darkness befalls her heart tonight,
and spoken words cannot shed light.

My sister freezes with fright,
when the doctor appears in white.
Her devastated heart grows weak,
with the words she hears him speak.

Visions appear in onyx skies,
and to Heaven an angel flies.
A brand-new angel takes flight,
outside her room's window tonight.

A beam of luminescent light,
carries her precious child in flight.
How can I make my sister see,
what my Saviour is showing me?

"Come glimpse out your window tonight,
and behold this beautiful sight."
Through her pain she cannot see,
all that He unveils before me.

Her broken spirit has grown weak,
therefore, my lips begin to speak;

"Angel carries her through God's light,
upon her feathered wings tonight.
Heaven's gate swings open wide,
and invites your angel inside.

Sister please don't cry.
I saw Karen fly.
She took to the sky.
No answers for why,
but I saw her fly.

God replaces her missing part,
and repairs Karen's damaged heart.
Jesus tickles her feet tonight,
and Karen giggles with delight.

Karen's heart is mended tonight,
because our Lord's stitches hold tight.

Behold this beautiful sight,
of Karen in Heaven tonight.
New wings and her golden halo,
create the stars elegant glow.

Sister, please don't cry.
Look up at the sky.
Do not blink your eye.

She dances in beams of moonlight,
and captures prisms of starlight.
She rests upon silvery clouds,
safely wrapped in satiny shrouds.

Look through my eye,
and you'll see her fly."

She knows her new angel has taken flight,
and our Saviour's precious arms hold her tight,
because embers fall from Heaven tonight.

"Look ! She is sending you her love."
Starlit kisses fall from above.

"New angel in the sky.
Oh, watch her fly."

such a sad but beautiful poem. It brought tears to my eyes, which is rather hard to do. Good job.

Can't think of anything more tragic than losing a child. A touching and emotional expression. Very painful, but one which conveys compassion and solace.
Warmest regards,
Gregory

This poem was written for my sister after the passing of her first-born daughter. I was 12 when she passed and I wrote this poem when I was 12 for my sister about the events that happened in her hopsital room that night. This is an old poem I thought I would share with others who may have lost a child or a loved one.
