what also works is to write an odd narative about some random occurence during your day. Third person style:

"We sat silently for a few moment, studying each other across the table, our eyes intently meeting. I knew then that I loved him, and from the way his eyes studied mine so closely, I knew he loved me too. The silence lasted. He leaned across, as if he were about to kiss me. And then, in one fateful moment, he parted his lips and spoke:
'Your mascarra is on your nose.'"

Hehe! Sorry...odd mood...WAY too happy.
