Feathered Love
by Janet Owenby
copyright 09-26-2003

Age Rating: 7 to 127

I watch two, winged lovebirds up above,
captured in old- fashioned, feathered love.
They soar indigo-painted mountains,
and bathe in unfermented fountains.

Gallant male chooses his mate for life,
and remains faithful unto his wife.
They soar across aquamarine skies,
with hope and faith branded in their eyes.

He never strays from her precious side,
and always tends the needs of his bride.
Their nest is built with honesty's twigs,
and their hearts feast on eternity's figs.

I long to be wrapped in wings of a dove,
and know this kind of untainted love.
I want to look into my lover's eyes,
and know our hearts can soar sapphire skies.

I am late with my comment... I thank all you who said what I wanted to say.
I just can whisper : "To be wrapped in wings of a dove, and know this kind of untainted love".
It sounds, like my lifelong wish. Janet's wonderful prayer in my heart...
Ira.

What a beautiful poem, Janet. This is the kind of love we all need.

Janet: so well expressed. We could all take a moral lesson from those lovebirds...monogomy...no adultery. It's that simple in the animal kingdom, but how difficult it is with us humans. Nice imagery and way of stating an important point.
Warm regards,
Gregory
