Don’t look at my face, for scars run deep
Don’t look in my eyes, for no soul do they keep
My pain runs farther than snow on ground
All around the acid falls down
In the days of golden, steady slumber
I was but a distant runner
In the line of duty I called upon
Yet no where did I run
Twenty men come forward now
No one dares defeat the brow
From sweat of men who had gone before
I just couldn’t open the distant door
Don’t look on my face, for scars run deep
Don’t look in my eyes, for no soul do they keep
The pain runs deeper than driven rust nail
For all the lives to no avail
I cry for youth who cry no more
I cry for old who know the score
I cry for me who cannot stand
I cry for all of human man
Scars run deeper than before
I stand to move through distant door
Deeper, deeper, now the sleep
Never more shall slumber keep
Good-bye my friend of olden days
Good-bye my friend in far off haze
Good-bye my love I knew before
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye no more
Slumber deep, my angel sleep
Slumber softly as angels weep
Slumber gentle, deer do keep
Ever watching
Slumber deep
In the gentle night wind voices call
Upon the forces growing tall
Scars upon my face shall weep
Souls in eyes that will not sleep
Protect me now in slumber weep
