Door Chimes
by Dawn Staple (Age: 76)
copyright 09-28-2003

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Doors close in one's life ~
No matter how much one pushes against them

Doors also open. They don't always do it together ~
Nor do they necessarily do it when one wants them to
But they keep on doing it

Life is a series of doors ~ different colours and styles
Some more inviting than others
Some distinctly off-putting

Doors closing and opening in ceaseless
Irregular movements throughout our journey in life
And many don't open wide enough for certainty

Which door to choose?
What's on the other side?
Probably not quite what is expected!

I remember a television advertisement in which
loo seats went up and down to a particular tune
but Life doesn't respond to such conformity

The doorways of opportunity
Haven't yet been set to music
BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE TO WRITE OUR OWN TUNE!
