A Good Knight Story
Part 3
by Mary -BrytEyz- Ball (Age: 38)
copyright 08-19-2001

Age Rating: 13 to 127

The moment the shining silver knight entered the enchanted house, it was miraculously clean once more inside and out! The vines outside withered up and died. They were left shriveled in little clusters around the outside of the house. The dust faded into twinkling glitter and slowly floated up towards the ceiling and then out one of the windows. The twinkling glitter rose higher and higher then glued themselves to the sky above the house. Later, when the sky turned velvety black, these peices of twinkling dust came to be known as stars.

See, there was a spell cast upon Bright Eyes and her home, yes. But any spell has a string attatched to its being broken. The one attatched to this particular spell was that if a knight, a true and honest soul, came and cut down the vines without any begging or pleading from her, if said knight was balanced and cut down more than the bare minimum but didnt try to do it all, and if this knight then stayed long enough to enter the home with a pure heart... then and only then could the spell be broken. Others had visited, and others had failed. Some had given up too quickly and had been discouraged too easily expecting perfection, some had failed for thier motives were not pure, and some had not bothered to try at all. Sir Silver, on the other hand, wanted only to help and be a friend. Sir Silver had courage, strength, and loyalty. Sir Silver was true and honest and wanted nothing in return for his services. "It's what a knight is supposed to do," he thought to himself.

What the fair bright eyed maiden did not know at first was that the knight had been wounded in a previous battle just before encountering her enchanted home. He had needed a rest for he was still bleeding and was weary from the fight. Writing always made him feel better and he so desperately needed to feel better. That is why he had stopped when he did. She also had thought him a strong and brave knight, and this he was. She didn't know that only AFTER gazing into the eyes of this beautiful sad maiden, the wounded silver knight was given the strength of a thousand horses enabling him to free Sad Eyes from the horrid spell the Warlock had cast upon her.

When her sad eyes became bright once more, she noticed that the knight was wounded. No matter how shiny his silver armor may have been, she saw that his heart had been wounded in a previous battle. It was bleeding, almost drained of life and love. It had been poked and stabbed in battle by others who had tried to cast a spell on him. She thought to herself, "How could I be so selfish? How could I not see that the knight had been wounded? And to think, he still came and rescued me, as badly hurt as he was. It's a miracle that he didnt run away, ...but I guess that was not the knight's way." No, that was NOT the way a knight should be, not this knight, not this shining silver knight.

Bright Eyes immediately began to nurse the silver knight back to health. She cared for his wounds, and applied some TLC(tender loving care) so that he would gain strength. The now bright eyed maiden opened up her own heart and touched it to his giving him life again, filling his heart with love, and freeing him of the damnation cast upon him by a wicked witch. Though not yet fully healed, Sir Silver looked up at the nursing Bright Eyes and pledged a vow to himself. He would from this time forward watch over this bright eyed maiden if only from a distance, to blow away any clouds that may gather as they try to block the view of the stars, to immediatly hack down any thorns and vines that may start to grow in the future, to look in on her through that window of the attic and always be there when Bright Eyes should need him. For Sir Silver knows that this maiden in turn will always be at that window ready for him should he need her.

The shining silver knight's wounds healed rapidly. Not only his heart but also his soul that had been dammaged. His ability to believe in himself had been taken from him. He had begun to doubt his effectiveness as a knight, his usefulness to the kingdom, and his role to rescue those that depended on him. His ability to trust others had also been removed since the wicked witch that he had previously battled with disguised herself at first as a dear and charming maid. The battle that ensued had taken Sir Silver by complete surprise. He had let his gaurd down and THAT was why he had been wounded so deeply.

Bright Eyes knew that the silver knight needed to be reassured and comforted. Her patience and tender care were that of an angel. Her openess had shown Sir Silver that angels do exsist. He had found his angel and bright eyes had found her true shining silver knight. They are like two stars. Her bright eyes and his armor would twinkle, even if eventually from different galaxies. They would shine so bright that their glowing glittering light would reach out and touch the other. As their light made contact, they'd find themselves connected and they'd feel as if they were one. She knew he could not stay forever, she knew he could not even stay long. But he was here now, that's all that mattered at the moment.

It seems you have abandoned this project, which saddens me. I hope at some point you pick this one up again. I gave up on the editing, but the spell checker would fix that easy enough. Well, even if you don't finish this story, I've enjoyed what you have already written. The world needs more happy fairy tales, and a lot more Knights in shining armor! ;) luv ya!

Hi, I like what I have read so far, I look forward to finding out what happeneds next.

Mary, truthfully I scanned this chapter. Very in-depth analysis of the situation. There is so much potential in this series you are writing. The difficulty I'm experiencing in reading this is the strictly descriptive form of writing. We need flow as readers to continue being glued to the story. The potential is definitely there, it simply needs a really good tight re-write. Looking forward to what happens next.
