Conflicting, despairing cries of my heart
For the return of a triumphant savior
My deliverer, come to redeem me, remove me
From a world who despises the Lord I love
And hates me simply for loving Him
And for the delay of this conquering King
His inevitable return bearing His wrath
For those whose stubborn disobedience
Will carry their souls to eternal separation
Knowing that the answer to the one requires
The end of the other, the end of opportunities
That the deliverance of my soul to glory
Marks the departure of their souls to damnation
And I find myself torn and tearfully rejoicing
That even as I cry out “Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus”
For the sake of my beloved stubborn sisters
My deliverer who is coming is currently standing by

For those who might have wondered...
One of those stubborn sisters of mine, one of those for whom my Deliverer stands by, waiting in mercy...
I honestly believe she has come to know Him as Lord, just as I do. My heart rejoices to know that when He comes in victory to take His children home, she will come with me to glory!
Oh, Lord...now for the other...
Except I am not the person upon whom to build the trust... I made the mistake of building my trust on seemingly solid people all my life. These were men and women who loved me forever, who would never betray me, whom I could truly trust. However, they, like me, and you, and everyone else on earth, has a single fatal flaw...eventually, all life is terminal. We all die. If we build our lives on trust in the temporary, then the unavoidable loss of that temporary could cause a serious problem. However, if we will, instead, seek to build our trust in those things that will remain, those things that will abide, those things that do not die, the way that I will eventually, then we can have an unshakeable trust. Then we have something, or even better someONE who deserves that absolute trust. I found that the Savior spoken of in this poem is the one who deserves that absolute trust. How fitting that tomorrow, we will celebrate his birth.
As I said in workshop this poem really moved me. Highest ratings from me Heather. I am glad you explained your inspirtaion for this poem also. I look forward to reading more of your work.
