I not only seek, but crave solitude.
There is only enough space in my world at times
for one and sometimes even he crowds me.
I prefer sitting in a secluded spot by the river,
lost among the trees and bushes;
only a minutes walk from reality
yet far enough away to fool myself.
I close my eyes and forget I exist,
opening my mind to sounds and sensations.
I listen to the wind speak to the trees
as it weaves its way between the leaves,
then continues its journey to unknown places.
I wish I could follow its example, set my mind free
to flow without boundaries or limitations.
I am both elated and saddened as it brushes my face,
and kisses me goodbye.
