Wood Woman

Oh, hear her angry cries, Oh, hear her weep,.
amongst elms and evergreens in forest deep,
where silver maples and weathered oaks sleep.

Protector of her forest and mother of trees,
crawls amongst bleeding stumps upon her knees,
to mourn her lost children with Autumn's breeze.

Fallen beloved ones encircle her girth,
scattered upon the face of mother earth.
sawed from her bosom that gave them birth.

Pointed wooden twigs protrude from her crown,
while wilted leaves hang from her locks of brown,
and faded emerald eyes form her frown.

Revenge she'll reap on woodcutters, she swears,
for the loss her despondent heart now bears,
for tonight her auburn-flamed temper flares.

Lumberjacks with your mighty saws, Beware!
do not invade her forest, Do not Dare!
test the vegeance beneath her haunted stare.
