Delirium (A Rondel)

by Catherine Wilson (Age: 36)
copyright 10-16-2003

Age Rating: 10 +

Grim reaper haunts me as I sleep.
This madness eats inside my head.
For it’s my soul he wants to keep.
I know he lurks under my bed.

From the shadows the demons creep.
The voices call. Fill me with dread.
Grim reaper haunts me as I sleep.
This madness eats inside my head.

The bodies pile into a heap.
“Oh God! Evil..chaos..widespread!”
“I’ll kill you all! Your blood I’ll shed!”
Inside my brain the maggots seep.
Grim reaper haunts me as I sleep.
This madness eats inside my head.

I think ther lies a deeper meaning in this poem than just some Halloween Tale. Powerful write Catherine. Interesting form also.

"Inside my brain the magots seep
Grim reaper haunts me as I sleep."

I'm definitly glad I came back to read this again. It was even better the second time.
