Worlds Apart

The sunset is so beautiful
I wish that she could see

Natures beauty’s not that great…
or maybe it’s just me

The ocean dances wildly
unlike the sparkles in her eyes

The world is filled with hardships,
is she so fooled by pretty skies?

I don’t see how she lives like this,
working harder every day

How on earth will she survive?
She’s no work and all play

She puts up great barriers
to protect her bleeding heart

She is well wise beyond her years
but not at all book smart.

Why can’t she just lighten up?
and joke once in a while

Why can’t she open her eyes?
and see the world is vile

Why can’t she be more playful?
She’s engulfed in news and crimes

Why can’t she be more serious?
She’s embarrassing sometimes

I know she’s not that normal
but who am I to speak?

She’s too naïve and fragile
but still, she isn’t weak.

We don’t have that much in common
but it doesn’t matter in the end,
she brings meaning to my life
and I’m glad that she’s my friend.

Same with me. My friends and I are really like that. I dont like how they are all goth and they dont like how where bright colors. But in the end we are still friends. And will always be their for each other. Great write!

Aw. It's a good poem. I kinda thought at first i was meant to picture a sunset and all that... tehn i realized that.. i think its just a figure of speach, but that makes it even better. You friend doesnt have alot of laughs, i see? Well, it's good that you established that your thankful for her and glad to be her friend. That you respect her the way she is, just saying it's okay to have a laugh once in a while. :p Good poem, Regina. :D

Regina,
This poem caught with the first two lines and held me fully through-out! I love how the two colors go, and then turn to purple in the end--two opposite ends of the spectrum meshing to create something so beautiful. Amazing job. I loved this one, Regina!
