My Job is My Hobby

As a Telephone Sales Associate there is much to do, much to remember and much to apply in a happy confident manner,
Here is part of a day in the life of a TSA;
Call up Sears, feeling nervous?
I give warm and friendly service.
First time caller? I’ll help you through it,
You’ll say it’s easy once you do it.
Will this be on your card today?
No? C.O.D? Yes, we’ll send that way.
Would you like to have a Sears card?
No, it really isn’t hard
I'll fill out an application, just a little information;
No charge for a card, it’s handy too,
You’ll love this little card of blue.
Get points for dollars charged to your card,
Saving will not seem so hard,
You can defer payments and shop when you must
Instead of waiting because you are “bust”.
Take your Sears card on your vacation,
We have specialties in lots of locations,
Use it at Sears centers, cafeterias, optical or retail Or call in an order, we’ll send it by mail
If you like, Or send it to an outlet near to you ; This kind of shopping is easy to do.
Need an outfit in a hurry?
Perfume? Toiletries? Not to worry
We can help most anywhere
With cameras, flowers, or a “do” for your hair.
You can send a gift on your card and not have to pay Until the bill comes, which is about three weeks away .
Not today? Sure that’s okay, let’s get your order on the way.
Your phone number? And your name?
Thank you, did I pronounce it the same?
The closest outlet I’ll tell you about, is that where you’d like the order sent out?
No delivery on a c.o.d. order but if it’ll please you, I can also charge to Mastercard or Visa,
There is a charge for delivery, depending on size, I’ll tell you the price so you can decide.
What’s your shopping list about?
School clothes, I can help you out,
We have some specials on today.
Yes, it’s fun to shop this way.
A new baby on your list?
Gifts for occasions not to be missed.
You can always count on Sears, satisfaction fulfilled for years,
Can’t find the item, let me look.
Yes I have the new Wishbook,
Can I send you one? Sure, you bet.
It’ll be waiting at your outlet.
A reorder, yes, we’ll send it, take the $1 charge off to amend it
Oh, I see the price has changed; a price adjustment I will arrange.
Change of address, glad to do it,
New telephone number, let’s review it;
It’s good to keep our records straight,
Do we have your info up to date?
Bonjour, non, je ne parle pas francais,
Mais, je vous transferais,
Merci, bienvenue, un moment s’il vous plais.
How’s your weather, good today?
Nice to talk with you this way.
Problem with an item bought?
Let me get that straightened out.
Parcel lost or gone astray,
I’ll find and send it on its’ way.
You say you’re blind, I’ll be your eyes,
You needn’t find it a surprise,
I’m here to serve and glad to do so.

Can I help you plan a trousseau? We’ve many lovely things to wear,
In our catalogues, do you have them there?
I’ll send one for you right away,
No, for that you don’t have to pay.
You say you ordered earlier today,
I’ll “add on” and take the second $1 charge away. Sears replaces Kidvantage and Craftsman tools,
Did you speak with your outlet? Yes, they know the rules.
How to measure a window you say?
Here, we have it on display,
I’ll turn with you to the back of the book and together we will take a look,
Floor covering, sure, we have that too, borders, paint, wallpaper, all here for you
Discontinued item, I’ll do what I can, sometimes we have them,
I have a plan Or if that won't work I’ll write out a query to have a search done.
You will soon get a call from a helpful someone.
An item you say, didn't come through? Sorry , I’ll reorder for you.
Item to follow, in ten days or more.
Oh, you already got one from the store?
I’ll try to cancel that right away,
Can I help you with something else today?
I hope you’ve enjoyed shopping this way,
You can call up this number both night and day
Please let me know what else I can do
To make this a great experience for you.
I’ve reduced your shopping woes to zero?
Your happy thanks make me feel like a hero!

Bewdy poem. Should sell it to Sears as the others say...then you could sit back and collect royalties everytime they played it on TV. Good one. Hey, did you know CL is here?? Catch ou later, Buns

*Claps* You are a wonderful writer and a hard worker. Submit this to Sears, it would make a great commercial! *Imagines it all...this poem a song on tv to the background of their new commercials* Good job! (Ps...if this is added twice...blame my computer!)

Thank you, gentlemen! No one knows what another's job is like until they try it, it can be frustrating and complicated, but it is wonderful when someone is pleasantly surprised at just how helpful we can be...

He he, Betty! I do not know how you manage it.
I thought I was busy at work, a great write!

What great comments, what a wonderful lift you give to my spirits, all of you!!
I have just recently been honoured with the title, associate of the month, so your support and the award help to reinforce my belief in me, my portrait will hang in the hall of honour for a year. I love my customers and love to help, I get to talk with all of Canada and even the U.S. sometimes.

LMAO!!!! This poem I can absolutely relate to. Living up north, Sears was the only place to shop for clothes as the Hudson's Bay (or Northern as it's now called)was very limited. It was always a laugh to see the children go to school in the same clothes - not because of uniform policy, because they all shopped from Sears! And when the new catalog came out, we all fought to read it first! And even now, my nephew tags all the dream presents he wants..in the Sears Wish book! What a job you have and yes, I have always found the operators I speak to/spoke to in Sears to be very friendly, warm and helpful! Great poem!
