From the death of fall
To the decay of Winter
Jack-in-the-Green comes
To return us to Spring!
Covered with vegetation
Leafy and coiling round his head,
This green-man adorns
The wooden pews of churches.
Bindweed, ancient spirit,
Deep woodlands they call home,
Merry, carefree, souls,
Keeping Nature's laws.
They hide from men
In their wildwood lairs,
Revitalizing the season -
Coursing through the earth!
