Thrist - Part II
by Jack Curson (Age: 32)
copyright 11-18-2003

Age Rating: 7 to 127

It troubles me so to thirst.
Waiting, hoping and praying for this desire to be quenched.
Pathetically I watch as “Faith” sits patiently in the distance;
Save me, my mind implores.
Have mercy, my heart wails.
Forgive me, my soul pleads!

It troubles me so to thirst.
Hidden deep inside “Hope” without notice thrusts itself upon my heart.
Immediately, thirst and doubt wage war.
A battle for this undeserving mortal soul begins.
“Love” stands before me
Dressed in full armor, swords drawn
Faith, Hope and Love strike
My disbelief was no match for His grace
Doubt defeated; lies motionless upon the very floor of my soul.

It troubles me so to thirst?
He lifts me up into his arms like the infant that I am.
Whispering in my ear, “You are forgiven, my son.”
Immediately His truth fills me
His light shines brilliantly within my soul
And as He carries me abreast in his arms
My Lord reminds me that…
His Faith will endure!
His Hope will be victorious!
His Love will never fail!

John 4:13-14
“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

John 6:35
“He who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.”

Sometimes words are useless and others are full of emotion and truth. Thanks, Anthony

What a great ending to such a great poem. What may have been unclear in Part One is now made completely understandable. It also gives hope to all those who are thirting.
I thank God for your faith. My son is 30 years old and he seems to have lost his.

One small critique: You spelled 'thirst' wrong in the title.

David Pekrul
