Footprints in the Sky
by Regina S.
copyright 11-18-2003

Age Rating: 1 to 127

You’ve left your handprints on my soul,
your fingerprints on mine,
you’ve left your footprints on my heart,
and on the world you’ve left your sign.

You’ve left your kisses on my cheek,
your hugs around my neck,
my shoulders carry all your tears,
they’re still there, you can check.

The world just couldn’t handle
all your joy and love,
it’s not fair you had to leave me
for your sandbox up above.

And as I walk the lonely streets
and feel you passing by,
I look up to the clouds to see
your footprints in the sky.

I loved this. I got an amazing feeling from it. I pictured the sun going down, surrounded by gorgeous shades of orange, red, and yellow. it was a beautiful poem.

I don't know how to say my feelings for this poem. It sounds like Jean-Thomas who was taken Home all too soon. He sends us rainbows and other signs to tell us he watches over us always. Are there really little footprints left in the clouds? It would be wonderful if I could see Jean-Thomas' little footprints in the sky.

This is one of your poems ever. I love it.
But why'd that child have to die? You write enough sad poetry. I'm taking away a point of praise because you made the character die.
But, just as all your poems, it is wonderful, and as I write for all your creative pieces, you should try to get it published. You are a wonderful author and you should try stardom. You really should try publishing.
And If you do, I get half the profit because I nudged you to do this. But this poem is one of your best.

there is something about this poem that I have noticed what I doubt anyone else has because no else put it in there comment. everyone else may have thought this other person that you where writing about in this poem was your old boyfreind or something but what I have come to realize is it is someone totally different."The world just couldn’t handle all your joy and love,"totally gave it away, it's Jesus.

Sad but comforting. Sounds like you're missing a very young person (sandbox reference). Very nice all around!

Hey Regina, another wonder work as always, ^^ I really enjoyed it, but there was one part at the beginning that I really didn't understand. "You’ve left your handprints on my soul, your fingerprints on mine..."
Again, wonderful work! Keep it up!
