Hunter Safety
by Sammy A. (Age: 17)
copyright 11-23-2003

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Here are some notes to have a safe and successful hunting season.
When at the target range, be aware of other hunters practicing their aim.
Be sure there is a big hill behind the targets you are shooting at.
Always point the gun in a safe direction.
Know what your target is.
What gun is a dangerous gun? EVERY GUN IS!!!! Keep that in mind.
Now some tips for when out in the woods.
Tell your friends or family where you will be hunting and when you will be hunting and about when you will be back at.
If you and some friends are going hunting but not together, set up a time and place to meet so you know that everyone is safe.
When in the stand, assume that every foot step you hear is another hunter coming past your stand.
Keep your safty on until you are ready to shoot your deer.
KEEP YOU FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO
SHOOT.
Always wear blaze orange.
Know what is between you and your target.
and that is all i can remember right now from Hunters safety class right now.
shoot straight and happy hunting!!

IM SORRY I WAS JUST TALKIN TO THE HUNTERS THAT HAVE JOINED THIS SITE. LIKE ME FOR EXAMPLE. i DO HUNT AND SO I HAVE NOT SHOT ANYTHING YET. I am sorry if my family wants to eat something mor ethen just the same ol oven cook pizza every night. And my family's tradition is that if we do get something, we take a pine bough and stick it in the deers mounth to give thanks back to the forest. and what ever we shoot we eat so nothing is wasted. Also my dad feels bad about shooting the deer and not finding it. And my dad always watches out for deer when he is driving so dont blame all the deer deaths by accidents on my family!! Do you really want the deer population to invade earth instead of humans??? if so, then you can be even more angry with the increase of car accidents. and this post was also for hunters to be in case if they had not had hunters saftey yet!! And hunting is to keep the deer/duck/whateverelse population down. AND IT NOT JUST DEER WE ARE HUNTING MISS KNOWIT ALL!!

I'd just like to note a few thinfgs for those who think hunting is moral. First, yes it’s true that a lot of deer are killed in car accidents mostly because the driver is careless and speeding, or the animal is paralyzed by the light from the car. The only people responsible for that is the driver, and the idiot who chooses to put a highway in the middle of a forest! Car accident aren’t exactly taught, and a majority of deer and other animals are killed by hunters and poachers, a lot of which are also not careful or responsible! As for the population, it’s none of our business, we’re not doing anyone a favor by killing an animal, especially not the population or the animals family or tribe. Nature always has a way of balancing things out, and it worked perfectly before humans totally invaded the earth! If an area is overpopulated, then the animals there won’t exactly try to reproduce, and if some die, the others will survive, and balance things out (notice no help from humans involved). Oh, and for those of you who actually do think hunting is moral, and have done it before, it must feel soo nice to have a living, breathing creatures blood on your hands!! :) If we’re so afraid of death, what gives us the right to kill others? (oh, and if anyone wants to argue that we’re not, why is it that this note is titled “HUNTER SAFTEY”?) And I highly doubt that if you were the hunted, you’d actually buy these petty excuses!
PS. If anyone wants to take this up with me personally, go ahead, I dare you. I did a project on this last year, my group won against almost the whole class, and we came up with probable solutions to overpopulation, and whatever other problems you can come up with. I only hope that some of those ideas could actually become a reality someday!

I'd just like to note a few facts for those who feel hunting is immoral. More deer are killed by cars than hunters. Deer are very subject to overpopulation. When that happens they die a slow death of starvation in winter when the pickings are lean. Responsible hunters (most are) eat what they kill. People eat meat and actually no particulare variety of meat is more or less sacred.
