Greed

Half a decade went by, I overlooked the lies
I stood by your side, I was your wife
The last iniquity took place and my heart cries
How could you mess up our life
Our children have a father they deny
For leaving our family and taking away our lives
Forgiveness I have tried
I look into my children's eyes
I am angry, and you, I despise
We lost you to greed and to reprise
Now you sing of how you've changed your life
How can we believe you aren't the same guy
You lay guilt upon me as if I did the deed and took away the sky
That to me is still living a lie
You haven't changed and that you deny
Until the end of time you will never be mine
Trust came and went just like your sky
Your freedom is gone because of your impaired mind
I want nothing more from someone who lies
The end is here and I still cry

Keely,
You told a tale here that would have taken hundreds of pages to speak of in a story. Abusers never stop abusing, and that's a sad truth. You're strong to have left him, to stay away from him. This is a beautiful poem, Keely. And I admire you for your strength. Wonderful job.
