A mother, a mentor, and wife,
that lived on your romantic dreams.
Your never ending lust for life,
lit up the night with golden beams.
Your laughter like a midnight song,
the beautiful nightingale sings.
Even when everything went wrong,
you flew through life on lifted wings.
Like Heaven's angels you would soar
in search of your infinite star.
Along your way, landing door to door,
to help heal someone elses’ scar.
Until fate stopped you in mid-flight,
and your whole world came crashing down.
Angel eyes once filled with starlight,
now wears a haunting, distant frown.
You drift away on ashen clouds,
hanging on with your broken wings.
Your eyes are veiled with ebon shrouds,
and your pale heart no longer sings.
I behold the depths of your pain,
within your empty hollow eyes.
I feel you drowing in the rain,
underneath your humble disguise.
Sad-eyed angel you are my friend,
that I would give my only wing.
I pray your broken wing will mend,
and you will soar the skies of Spring.
Until your heart's light shall shine,
and melt away glaciers inside.
I will offer you warmth from mine,
for I have shared the tears you’ve cried.
Until your heartache passes on,
and your last frozen tear shall fall.
Until your darkened skies have gone,
you’ll never bear Winter alone.
I will share your pain with sad-eyes
until I see your hazel one's smile,
Until your broken spirit flies,
I'll carry you every mile.
Letter TO Candy
“Candy,”
“I mean these words from the bottom of my heart. I am not a fair weather friend. I am like the post man, I deliver through snow, sleet, and rain. You may be able to close your heart to the rest of the world, but I will climb snow-capped mountains, run through fire, and burst down those locked doors to get in and save you. I won’t let you drown in your pain. You are more than a friend to me. You are like one of my own children. When you hurt, I hurt too.
This poem is my belated Birthday gift and Thanksgiving gift to you. We have our special friendship to give God many thanks for. I posted it here on pnp to let everyone know just how special true friendship is. I hope everyone at Pnp is lucky enough to share a friendship as special as ours, that last a lifetime. I also wanted them to know the very special person, I have known for many years.
I wanted to write this poem for you, to show you what I saw in your picture’s eyes, when you sent it to me. I did not see this angel lying on a cloud. I saw you on your pillow at night, crying your silent tears alone. I saw your sad, empty eyes, with a dam behind them waiting to burst. I cried, because in this picture you created your pain in this angel’s eyes. Your pain stared out at me. I know your first holidays without Jeff, is going to be very hard. I want you to know, that I know what your feeling, without you saying a word, because I really can feel your pain, even in your art. Candy, I am here for you.”
Your friend through thick and thin,
that will never let you give in.
Janet
