Santa Marta [I will die in your arms]

Santa Marta [I will die in your arms]
by Jim Nasium

a snow capped peak red with sunsets hues
the white beach below accepts the rising tide
wooden docks nearby smell of rotten fish
the narrow dirt streets are quiet at last
I sit in my small bamboo hotel room
alone again I wait out the night
the powder covers everything now
even the pain that brought me here

this town near the mountain on the beach
up on the north coast of the land
that to this day still lies virgin
escaping the modern worlds lust
moving at a much slower pace
life as I know it now can only be better
that what was left behind, for change

some times music flows from small cafes
that are packed with the other people here
they are not watching what I can see
why do they not take joy in nature
they turn to each other for pleasure
that can be bought and paid for
only leaving them wanting more
never getting enough to quench the thirst

doing what I do makes time stand still for me
after all I am the only one that knows
that this place remembers me well
and the days that have passed by
once when I was a younger man
my pace quicker than it is today
the time spent here was spent wisely

*Santa Marta is on the North Coast of Colombia, S. A. The town is set on the
beach, where it is hot all day,
and you can swim or lay out and get a tan, then if you want to you can take
a short bus ride up the mountain that sits right there, in back of the town,
and go skiing... on snow!! any day, every day...
