~~Nocturnal Moonflowers~~
by Susan Vessels (Age: 53)
copyright 12-19-2003

Age Rating: 18 to 127

As dusk climbs
twilight trellis,
nocturnal moonflowers
unfurls her flowering petals
posing...
beneath a stardust canvas~

Dream scented boquets
spills moon petal musk
kissing...
an incandescent waft~

Before dawn dispels,
her orchid halo and hides
folds fading tendrils
of nocturnal veils~

stolen fragrance
her perfume,
created...
by the moons
cheek~

You wrote two wonderful poems and then we lost another poet. I hope you fell madly in love and cannot think of anything else any more. Sorry you did not stay a member cause I enjoyed your poems a lot. Anthony

This is a beautiful poem, Susan. It reminds of the gardens my friend Martin used to keep in California, of flowers that only bloomed at night. All dark violets, some even black or red or dark oranges, and as you went out into it, the sun setting, you could smell the perfumes coming over you from each of them, intoxicating in their scents. Great job, Susan.

Susan this poem is beautiful. I love the imagery you evoke in the reader's mind with your words.
