Strange japanese e-mail
by Jessica M. (Age: 16)
copyright 12-04-2003

Age Rating: 7 to 127

OK, I keep on getting this weird e-mail from japanese people saying: Hello Jessica. We've got your name on our list. Would like your name taken off? With some other japanese handwriting. Weird isn't it? Have any of you had any weird e-mails like that?

That sounds a little like a threat.
Sorry, but it does.
It makes you think...what list?
A list of fans?
A list of people that we want to bomb?
Try to get rid of it, and don't reply.

Bulk, spam, it's basically the same thing. I know from experience.

I'd like to add that spammers, being people who have no conscience whatsoever, often use the unsubscribe link simply to confirm that they have an active email address. (I use a very similar mechanism for PnP applications to be sure the applicant's email addy is valid) Then they spam you worse and sell your name to other slithering beasts of their kind. I never unsubscribe any more unless I know it to be a reputable site.

Until it is made legal to shoot or otherwise dispose of these vermin, the best solution is to get an email addy at a place which has strong spam filtering.
