Do I dream this fresh music
which floats so gently
behind night's purple curtain?
It's melody, full and deep,
quickens my heart's beat,
warms the sanguine flow
beneath my breast.
YET...do I dream?
Who composes such measure
to tempt my heart
in mirthful reverie?
Is it your spirit's breath
that affects my senses thus?
Harmonies twine 'round my soul
like tendrils of summer ivy.
YET...do I dream?
Did I wish this overture
play upon my brow,
and comfort with dew-drop
tones? Faint, silvery notes
of pearly moisture evoke rhythms
that quench my being.
YET...do I dream?
