The day our Savior was born,
The day a virgin gave birth,
A coat of sin, you have worn,
To you, no one has any worth.
You taught, you learned, you gave strength to the weak,
You gave love to the children, adults, and elders,
You loved everyone: sinners, audatious ones, and meek,
Emmanuel, to you, we put up alters.
Tried unfairly, put up on a cross for us,
Yet still, you love all the sinners in the world,
When you died, a heavenly chorus,
When you died, a new world unfurled.
When you rose again, after three days,
When a sealed tomb reopened,
The look on your disciples face's, so amazed,
For no one had invisioned.
We thank you, Lord,
For what is given,
And happier still, even more,
All glad that you have risen.
The night that Lord Jesus was born,
The night a virgin gave birth,
To this day, Christians await your return,
With praises, songs, tears, and mirth.
