Kingdom of Light

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
A.N.: This is a song I composed when I was a freshman in choir--a Christmas song, to be more exact. As such, it is very special to me, and I only hope that the message it conveys will move your minds and hearts.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Oh, the sky is shadow,
And the clouds gray:
A bleak storm of silver,
Ever so dreary;
Oh, their hearts are heavy,
Dreadfully weary,
Wandering in darkness,
Lost in wintry day.

Oh, they seek the dream,
Illusion of the golden light:
The kingdom of sunbeams,
Heaven’s glory so bright;

Oh, they tread the barren terrain
Through winds of sleet and ice,
Shivering in coldness of frozen rain
Until they find their Lord, Jesus Christ.

Oh, their eyes are searching
Through haze of white,
For the city of rainbows,
Sweet chiming of bells:
Yes! The world of kindness,
Of vivid pastels,
Where souls are forgiven
To bless the true contrite.

Oh, they seek the dream,
Illusion of the golden light:
The kingdom of sunbeams,
Heaven’s glory so bright;

Oh, they tread the barren terrain
Through winds of sleet and ice,
Shivering in coldness of frozen rain
Until they find their Lord, Jesus Christ.

Oh, souls seek the golden dream,
Kingdom of the shining light,
Until they uncover the city of rainbows,
Until they find the Lord, Jesus Christ,
Until they find the Lord, Jesus Christ.

I really enjoyed this, the rhythm through the whole thing carried really well and made it quiet enjoyable to read.
You also use beautiful imagery through the whole thing, I especially enjoy the first verse, 'bleak storm of silver' is such a wonderful line.
Only note, perhaps change 'Shivering in coldness of frozen rain' to 'Shivering in the coldness'. I think the lack of definitive article with two prepositions just sounds slightly awkward to the ear. Or the eye I suppose, it may sound far better when sung.
Aside from my strange and picky grammar, nicely done and I think this would be wonderful to hear sung.

Shannon: I would have loved hearing you sing the Christmas poem-song. I think it was neat. I pictured the wise men on their pilgrimage from the East. I guess it could have been the shepherds. It also could be many people today. What say you? It grabbed my attention and meant much to me as i read it. No criticism. It was a heart-felt writing. Thank You, Dale
