The lie. My lie.
I faked happiness each day.
Never pleasing, I did try.
Watched my life get thrown away.
Some people ask me why
all I could do was pray.
The night. My night.
Finally stood up to you.
Divorce. You knew I was right.
Claimed to love me, it’s not true.
Don’t pretend. Let’s not fight.
This is now what we must do.
The end. Our end.
Debt is high and the bills come.
And I’ve lost my dearest friend.
He’s getting married, I am numb.
There are no blessings I can send.
Below is my life’s sum.
I thought alone I’d learn to live
And now I just live alone.

Bravo, Catherine. This is an amazing work! I love the way you wrote this, and I definitly will have to look at Leah's challenge now!
Catherine...sometimes we must first learn to live alone and to love alone before we can learn once more to live with another and love with another. It is the strength gained through the experience of loss, and the realization and dependence on oneself that makes that time the best of all. Where happiness may not be here, there will be freedom, as it will be where this a lack of freedom, there will be happiness. This is a time to gain knowledge of yourself.
