Not What it Seems
by Regina S.
copyright 12-21-2003

Age Rating: 7 to 127

An innocent spirit,
that radiates light,
cries burning hot tears
in the depth of the night.

They think she’s angelic,
nice, pretty, sweet, smart,
but they can’t know the anger
hidden deep in her heart.

A great, mighty prince
with servants at hand.
They judge him too quickly,
they don’t understand.

They see him as spoiled,
wrapped in silvers and golds,
but they could never know
the courage he holds.

A small, lonely child,
that sleeps in the park
only comes out to play
when the blue sky turns dark.

They shun and avoid her,
they must do ‘other’ things.
They don’t like the hump
that hides her angel wings.

There is no perfection
to those who see with their eyes,
they’re deaf to the truth,
but they’re open to lies.

They judge without knowing
with a closed heart and mind.
The world’s only beautiful
in the eyes of the blind.

Oh, Reggie, this is such a touching poem, i loved it! You seem to take peoples hearts a toss their veil of bad interpratation in a shreder so they can see what really matters.....ok, that was a bit deep for me, i need to rest for awhile and try to act like myself again lol ;)

gooooooooood one!

Regina: you are well beyond your years with insight and wisdom that only comes with a long life. Terrific with deep philosphical expression!

Looking past the surface at what lies underneath is the only way to really know what someone is all about. Fantastic poem, Regina.
