Doorbell… dear doorbell,
you are silent, so silent.
My heart behind door…
Ring quickly, so I hear you,
doorbell… dear doorbell,
let me know He is close here.
Please, let me know it before
He touches you and I die...

For some reason I heard an oldies song in the back of my mind when reading this. (Mr. Postman). Silly me, I know. Anticipation... more than a heinz slogan, eh? :-)

It is agony to wait for someone who may never come. I like how you address the doorbell as if it can have some control over your life.

Again your incredible gift of saying so much with so few words shines through to us, your lucky readers. I love this one!
Warm Regards,
Lyle

Now it is perfect, Ira! I love it just the way it is.

Great work about anticipation and longing, Ira!
Reminds me of the old song "It is only the wind, your children are not at the door; the wind, restless wind, nothing more" - only in your poem, I think you were referring to a lover. Great work.

Moses
