Empty Life

  Empty Life

Those psychotic voices are self-righteous
Immoral in their double-talk
Their truth is controversial, a minute’s myth away

Bereft of pink-tinged flesh
their bony fingers drip formaldehyde
as they tiptoe through the tulips of my anti-social mind

Their pointed nails are razor sharp
My wounds bleed mass confusion,
spewing forth weak imperfections, dead-end character flaws

Contemptuous scorn is comfortable
I bow and grovel to my shameful actions,
clandestine plots and secret love affairs

My neurotic memories mark me; a graven crucifix
shining forth for all the world to see
Calculated keepsake; overwhelming image of my empty life

A chilling tale with eerie imagery. Whoa! It gives me a shiver. Very nicely done Nancy.

Wow Nancy! This one is a powerhouse! One of your very best in my humble opinion. Loved the imagery, raw emotion and sheer impact. I think I relate to this extremely well.

Warm Regards,
Lyle

This is someone who hears voices and perhaps they themselves do not know what this poetry means exactly. It is hard to understand.
